Mizobata Junpei to Play “Kudo Shinichi” for Detective Conan’s Special Drama

Actor Mizobata Junpei will star in a special drama for the live-action of “Detective Conan (Case Closed)” which will be aired in April.

There have been two special dramas for the live-action versions of “Detective Conan” in 2006 and 2007, and Oguri Shun played the main character, Kudo Shinichi, both times. However, this time around, Mizobata is taking over the role, and the heroine, Mouri Ran, which was played by Kurokawa Tomoka in the previous broadcasts, will now be taken over by Kutsuna Shiori.

“Detective Conan” is a popular manga written by Aoyama Gosho, and it has been adapted to anime since 1996. This special drama will be broadcasted as the 15th year anniversary for the anime adaption and its 15th film release, and the story of the drama will be completely original.
Mizobata commented, “I’m the generation who grew up watching the anime. When I first received the offer, I felt pressure, but I was very happy at the same time.”
The shoot for the special drama will start at the end of February.

    Why change the actors of DC live action? I think Shun Oguri is more closer to the character Shnichi. also the previous actress who portrayed Ran.. of course as a DC fan, someone who is more shinichi-like in live action, in face, aura, and acting is more enjoyable.so again..why change shun oguri and the original Ran? why? huhu

    I guess the previous actor would be better acting as kudo shinichi....I just hope the new one will be good to in portraying his role...
    A happy-go-lucky, serious when there are cases but sweet to ran!!!!

    i also wish that Jun matsumoto can play as Shinichi Kudo..
    however, we should respect thier decisions. i'm just wishing that those new casts will bring Detective Conan new aura.. ^-^
    i hope this new drama will shock the whole world.. ^-^

    i think the new cast is good.. they resemble or at least remind me of the cast from DC anime.. (i've watched like 10 eps of the new live action series) and i've been watching DC anime for years and lemme tell yah Oguri SHun (though I loveeee him so) is not that close to SHinichi.. he's more of a shy type and shinichi is more of a ... u know. :)

    Obviously, the answer to your questions "why did they change the cast", is because Shun and Tomoka are too old now to reprise their roles as high school students. Besides, Mizobata and Kutsuna are not bad choices at all for playing Shinichi and Ran.

    I like junpei and shiori's chemistry in the drama.. just like shinichi and ran.. And the effects like ran's karate and shinichi kicking a ball is way better than the 1st live action.. this is just my opinion though

      but shun is better and also tomoka, they did a good job as the character....... when i've watched the movie 3 where junpei and shiori for the role of shinichi and ran, i cant feel the aura on them being played as their character!!!!! I PREFER SHUN OGURI AS SHINICHI AND TOMOKA AS RAN!!! THEY'RE THE BEST SUITABLE ACTOR! THEY ARE REALLY CUTE!
